HISTORY OF THE FIRM

Torrenga Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1960 by Alfred P. Torrenga. The firm grew in a short period of time to be one of the most comprehensive engineering and surveying firms in Northwest Indiana. Mr. Torrenga's background included a BSCE from Purdue University, assistant Lake County Highway Engineer, Highland Town Engineer and Griffith Town Engineer, a post he held for 18 years until his death in 1982. A veteran of World War II, serving as a Captain of Engineers in the Pacific Theater, Mr. Torrenga subsequently served in the Indiana National Guard and rose to the position of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Corps of Engineers. Torrenga Engineering is now operated under the direction of his two sons Gary P. Torrenga, and Donald C. Torrenga.

Torrenga Surveying, LLC separated in August of 2002 from the parent company of Torrenga Engineering Inc. The engineering portion of projects is performed by Torrenga Engineering, Inc., and all surveying tasks are performed by Torrenga Surveying, LLC. The surveying company is headed by Mr. J. Stuart Allen, L.S. and Mr. Alexander A. Fabian, L.S. These individuals have been with the Torrenga firm since they began their careers in surveying. The two organizations share the same office space and working relationship as always, providing customers with a full range of engineering and surveying services.

In September of 2006, Torrenga Surveying, LLC purchased all of the records and files of Emil Beeg, Land Surveying of Valparaiso, Indiana along with their facility. They have also acquired the surveying files of Bill Tanke, and numerous records from other surveyors in the area. In 2007 they purchased all of the files of Hardesty Land Surveying in Dyer, Indiana.
